Discord emoji maker: animated emotes that fit under 256KB
Discord caps custom emoji at 256KB — a brutal limit for animation. The exporter renders your motion preset as a 128×128 GIF and steps palette, frame rate and dimensions down until the emote fits, so 'file too large' never reaches your server settings.
Static emojis and 320×320 server stickers export in the same click, and everything animates live in the preview before you commit.

| File | Format | Size | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Animated emoji GIF | GIF | 128×128 | 256KB |

How to publish on Discord
- Make the emote. Start from a template, upload a reaction image, or AI-generate a character. Bold shapes read best at emoji size.
- Animate it. Bob, jelly, wiggle and wave presets cover the classic emote motions — the character moves, the background stays still. The preview loops exactly like Discord does.
- Upload to your server. Server Settings → Emoji → Upload. The GIF is already under 256KB so it just works.
Questions
What is the Discord emoji size limit?
256KB per emoji. Discord displays them at 128×128 and auto-jumbo sizes them in chat. Animated GIF emoji play for everyone once uploaded by someone with the right permissions.
GIF or APNG for Discord?
GIF. Discord accepts APNG for stickers but GIF is the safest animated emoji format and the one this tool optimizes for.
Why does my emoji look blurry?
It was probably exported at 512px and crushed by Discord's resizer. Exporting natively at 128×128 keeps strokes and captions sharp.
